Obviously, God included these scriptures for a reason. Israel was separated from the rest of the world, and landmarks were used for borders. 1 Kings 8:52-53 Thou didst separate them Titus 2:14 a peculiar people 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ye are bought with a price 2 Corinthians 6:16-17 come out from among them, and be ye separate Today, landmarks are Spiritual Hebrews 10:20 a new and living way Romans 8:14 as many as are led by the Spirit of God shall be called the Sons of God Exodus 13:21-22 God led Israel with a pillar of cloud by day, and a pillar of cloud by night He wants to lead us today, just as he led them then. Joshua 7:25-26 Achan left a legacy, just not a good legacy. 1 Samuel 17:45, 50-51 When David slew Goliath, he left a good legacy 1 Samuel 15:22-23 King Saul made a mistake, and just continued to drift farther and farther away from God, until his legacy was negative. Lot's wife left a legacy that was clearly visible for some time afterwards. Ruth 1:16 Ruth wasn't born an Israelite, but someone made a positive impression on her, and she was determined to live the rest of her life as a Jew, and she is in the lineage of King David and our Lord Jesus. Esther 4:16 Esther went against the odds to do what needed to be done, knowing that is could cost her life. 2 Timothy 4:6-8 Paul said that he had fought a good fight; he knew that he was leaving behind a positive legacy. Romans 16:19 vision yet for an appointed time We have the opportunity to leave a legacy; whether we obey God and leave a positive legacy, or whther we are disobedient and leave a negative one Sermon notes by Pete Shepherd |
