“These Simple Truths” By Brother Kenneth Ray November 15th,
2009 Church/Religion tends to get
complex. The Gospel/God is not intended
to be complex concerning His will and purpose as it pertains to us. John
4:24 God is a Spirit… People try
to make God many things, but He’s a Spirit.
We must worship in spirit and in truth.
We came to worship The Spirit. Ecclesiastes
12:13 Fear God, and keep His
commandments John
14:15 If ye love Me,
keep My commandments If a child
loves its parents, then it will obey.
There is a relationship between God and man. In our final days, God won’t ask to see a
diploma or a gold watch, He will ask about our relationships. God considers relationships to be the most
valuable things. Mark
12:29-31 …love the Lord
with all your heart, and with all your soul… The
foundation of God’s relationship is love. John
3:16 For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son… Life is all about love; God is
love. God doesn’t invest in us to demand
a return, or to force us to serve Him. Luke
6:35 Love your enemies… The best
use of life is love. It isn’t easy to
learn to love unconditionally (it goes against human nature); that’s why God
has given us an entire lifetime to learn it. 1
Corinthians 13:3 all the good
deeds in the world don’t mean anything without love Relationships
are what matter most, not achievements, the acquisition of things. Draw nigh to God. Why is it that some people never seem to
worry about anything, while others worry about even the smallest of
things? Those who have learned to lean
on God in good times lean more heavily on God in rough times. Draw closer to God and find comfort. John
14:27 Peace I leave with you, My
peace I give unto you… The best
expression of love is how you spend your money and your time. Time is the most precious gift because you
can make more money, but you can’t make more time. We don’t get rollover minutes. 1
John 3:18 …let us not love in
word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth. Relationships
with God and people take time and effort.
The best way to spell love is T I M E.
I value you enough to give you my most precious asset: my time. Galatians
6:10 …do good unto all men,
especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Luke
10:27-28 Thou hast answered right:
this do, and thou shalt live. This passage is very similar to the one in Mark 12 that we looked at earlier, but this time, Jesus asked one of the lawyers. The lawyer, who had spent years studying the law, gave Jesus the same answer that Jesus had given the scribe in Mark. God wants
us to be in regular, close fellowship with believers so that we can develop the
skill of loving. We have to put it to
use to benefit, it isn’t enough to just know.
Love cannot be learned in isolation.
We have to be around people that are irritating, imperfect,
frustrating. This allows you to invite
others to feel the effects of your relationship. Matthew
5:16 Let your light so shine… John
21:12 …Come and dine… 2
Corinthians 6:2 …now is the day
of salvation. Do it now,
don’t wait until tomorrow. The best time
to love is now. Proverbs
3:27-28 Say not unto thy
neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give… In closing, three simple truths: The best use of life is love. The best expression of love is time. The best time to love is now. Sermon notes by Pete Shepherd |
