“Let God
Be Manifest” By Parrish Lee Sunday, February 21th,
2010 John
9:1-11
…the pool of Siloam… The Lord encountered a man that was blind from birth. The disciples asked the Lord, “Who did sin, that this man would be born blind?” They knew that blindness is a terrible ailment, and they also knew that the wages of sin is death, so, obviously, sin must have caused this condition. But the Lord did not pin this down to anyone’s sin, but that the works of God should be made manifest. Jesus didn’t stop there; He took from His moth, and combined with the dust of the earth and made a way for this man to see. In Genesis, Jesus spoke the world into existence, and then formed man from the dust of the earth. Here, Jesus anointed this man’s eyes; to anoint means to consecrate to an office or religious service. There were three things this man needed to do: listen, obey, and wash. John
9:24-33 the
formerly blind man
testifies about how Jesus healed him. After you accept the calling of Jesus, people notice the change. Three days after I got saved, I had somebody confront me with a Bible: “Show me where it says you have to be baptized in Jesus’ Name.” I hadn’t been saved very long, but I was glad to show him where it said that. He never wanted to talk to me about the Bible ever again. A few days ago, a brother came to me and confessed that he had been quenching the Spirit. I got real convicted, because I realized that, in some matters, I had been quenching the Spirit, to. In what matters, Brother Parrish? That’s not even the right question. The question is, in what matters have we been quenching the Spirit? What unctions of the Spirit do we not allow God to perform? Some of us know that God has been wanting to use us, bless us, deliver us, to move us in ways we can’t even imagine, and for whatever reason, we’ve allowed the evil one to steal our blessing. John
9:35-41
...And he worshipped Him… Some people have gotten on the kick of saying, “I’m not religious, but I am spiritual.” I had a problem that, but I don’t anymore. I’ve come to understand that to be absolutely true—but, the question is, what spirit are they of? Spirit of lust? pride? greed? contrariness? The Bible says believe not every spirit that is in the world, and try the spirits to see if they be of God. Luke
9:51-56 …Ye
know not what manner of
spirit ye are of… That example is in there for all of us who get wronged or persecuted and we feel like we want to call down fire from Heaven. Let us look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; follow His example. Some of us know that God has given you a spirit of compassion, or worship, or of a prayer warrior, the gift of tongues to glorify His name, a spirit to be a leader, the spirit to be a follower, the unctions of His Spirit to do His will in this lifetime… How many here have ever felt distant from God? How many have felt far away from God? If you’ve ever felt that way, you are not alone. One thing you’ve got to know: When you go through the dry times, you don’t have to pine away and say, “I’m just waiting on the Lord to change things.” You can stand up as a man or woman or child of the Most High and say, “Oh, Lord of Hosts, Great God, and my Savior, I appeal to You and only You; give me a refreshing of you. Lord God, restore unto me the joy of thy salvation.” If you are thinking, I haven’t prayed like I should, or fasted like I should… So what? The Bible says to make your appeal be known unto Him and He will keep your hearts and minds. Revelation

… he shall be my son. He has given us an eternal promise, that He will bridge the gap. He is preparing that way right now. Sermon notes by Pete Shepherd |
