Somebody's saying, “Man, that was kind of brief; we wanted to listen to Bob a little bit more.” That's what I was saying, amen. I want to preach in the name of Jesus. I want to thank you for coming this morning, just to listen to 3 guys, unlearned men, none of us have doctrinal degrees, maybe not even bachelor's degree in theology we do have degrees in knee-ology, amen?

We've been on our knees in prayer because we understand. There is a need in our community and in our church. There is a need in our community and there is a need in our church.

Let us pray. God, we thank you for this opportunity. We pray that you would bless our servant and bring forth Your Word, God, in true righteousness that only you have, for no flesh is righteous before you. We thank You God for letting us be Your sons, promising us if we just hold on, if we just make an effort, if we get baptized in Jesus name, and just hold on, we will be saved. We will see You, and we will stand before You, and hear those words, “Enter in, thou good and faithful servant, thou have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.” God in Jesus name, we pray and claim. Thank You, amen.

Family sanctification:

Part one is Prayer

Part two is Practice/Actions.

Part three is Patience.

Part 1: Prayer

What is my obligation to my family? And how do I sanctify my children? Let's go to First Kings chapter eight, verses twenty-two through twenty-eight.

1 Kings 8:22-28 And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven: And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart: Who hast kept with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him: thou spakest also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day. Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me. And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my father. But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded? Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day:

So here's the king, King Solomon, the wisest man that ever lived, in the presence of the people, his royal subjects, praying to God to set the example for his kingdom. “Hey, this is how we roll. This is what we do. We seek counsel from on high.” Amen?

Matthew, chapter six, verses nine through thirteen. I want to bring to to your attention this prayer, and this prayer is by that other king, the King of kings, Jesus. Somebody asked Him, “Lord, how do we pray?” So, He said, in this manner. Verse nine:

Matthew 6:9-13 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

So, if you will think about that for a minute you have to introduce your children, your wives, your husband, your family to Jesus. They have to know that there is no other God beside God, and God has a name, and his name is not God. His name is not Lord. His name is not Jehovah. His name is Jesus. His name was Jehovah. But His new name, and the new covenant, in Christ Jesus, the whole purpose of the covenant; Jesus is His name. And, as Parrish already spoke, during the time of Revelation when God comes back for his for his people, there will be another name. It won't be Jesus anymore; it'll be something else. We don't know that name yet, and I'm okay with that. If you remember, He spoke to Moses, and said by My name, Jehovah, was I not known to the prophets. So the name Jehovah wasn't revealed until Moses, you can go and check the Scriptures on that; that's your homework for tonight.

I also want to bring your attention: We have to teach our families to honor God, that His will be done in earth. So, think about this for a second: The Word was made flesh, the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us. And we beheld His glory as of the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. Think about this: And the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. Hmm, so we're talking about the dust of the ground, the earth. Thy will be done in earth. Not in the world, because even Jesus said, I pray not for the world. The world will not be saved; that's Scripture. We're talking about that sanctified earth, that holy set-aside earth, not the world. That I need your daily bread, earth, that daily bread, which is from heaven. Only God can provide that daily bread for me and my family. I can go to work, I can do whatever I do, but I need God to strengthen me. I need God to wake me up so I can go to work. Somebody said, “I've got an alarm clock to wake me up.” No, you don't; you have an alarm clock that aggravates you to get up. You have God to wake you up. If God doesn't wake you up, that alarm clock can go off from now until eternity, and you won't be moving. Only way you move is when the coroner comes to get you, amen? Real talk, all right. That was part one.

I'm going to read Luke, sixteen, twelve—I'm sorry. That Scripture is about Jesus praying all night. Again, as a parent, as a sister, as a brother, as a dad, or mom, sometimes you're going to have to pray all night. It may be about some things that you don't want to share with anybody else, it's your own personal struggles. But, sometimes, you won't be able to sleep, "Well, I can't sleep.” Well, that's the time to pray. Because God is trying to tell you something, something that you need to hear, amen?

Part 2: Practice/Actions

First Timothy, four, verses ten through fifteen, I won't read it, I will reference it, because I just want to point out some key words to you: Meditate. Take heed. Neglect not. Give attendance to, command, continue, be thou an example.

First Peter, two, and twenty-one:

1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

John thirteen, verse fourteen.

John 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

So parents, brothers, sisters, older brothers, and sisters, even younger children can be an example. When my daughter comes to me and says, "Daddy it's time to pray.” "Daddy sleepy. Daddy got to get up and go to work in the morning. But daddy's gonna pray.” Because I have to set that example, amen?

Second Timothy, chapter 4, verse one.

2 Timothy 4:1-5 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. [Verse three]

2 Timothy 4:3-5 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; [Verse four] And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. [Last verse, verse five] But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

As a parent, there's a whole lot of stuff going on. You know, I cut off the cable at my house just an aside. I thought, you know, first of all, I don't want to pay it, because I'm that guy. And, I thought after a week or so after everybody complained—everybody complained!--I thought, you know I don't... First of all, I didn't want it in the first place, it was kind of cool watching my cooking shows, but that's another story. But, once I got rid of it, yeah, I missed it, but did I need it? no. Because I wanted to set the example for my household. You know what? we got to do something different. Because we have this whole line of blessings reaching from here to heaven that we need to grab hold of. We don't need to grab the third and the fifth to seventh and the eleventh one, I want to grab one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, all the way up that ladder. Amen?

Part 3: Patience

I really didn't want to write this part. Anybody that wants to talk about patience?

Luke, twenty-one, verse nineteen:

Luke 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls.

Luke, eight, and fifteen.

Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Romans, five, three and four.

Romans 5:3-4 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

First Timothy, six, and eleven:

1 Timothy 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

You know, I got this Scripture right before I came up. Because I lost my wallet, yesterday, the day before, whatever it was. You may be thinking what's this all about? I lost my wallet. I never lost my wallet in my life. I'm old, man. Kind of late to be losing your wallet, huh? So then the Scripture came to mind. You know, only ten or fifteen minutes ago.

Romans, twelve and three. First one to get it, raise your hand. Romans, twelve, verse three; who has it? Who has it in your Bible? My man. That's who I thought would have it. Brother Alex, read it big and loud. You know what come on up here, that way, everybody could hear.

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Brother Alex, an integral part of our military ministry. Bringing those souls to Christ, amen? Sometimes you might think that you're somebody without God. Because you're nobody, really, without God, I know that. Because sometimes you get a little caught up in the world's thinking of you, because, you might have a little Visa card, I don't know, like Parrish, with a $20,000 limit, or like Andy with a $50,000 limit. You might start thinking you’re somebody, amen? You lose your wallet you find out who you really are. Out in the world, I can't even buy a loaf of bread because my money was in my wallet. I can't go to the ATM because my ATM card was in my wallet. Remember to pray for our brothers and sisters that have family in Puerto Rico: can't go to the ATM, they they don't have wallets and, if they do, it's of no use to them, they don't have electricity. That was just extra, there's no extra charge, and that concludes; but let me recap real quick: prayer, practice, patience; part one, two and three of Family Sanctification. God bless you.
