John 7:37-39   …out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water…

The word empower means to give power or authority to, especially by legal means.  God has empowered us, so that we can be taking, advancing, gaining ground in God.  Empowerment begins with us.

 1 Corinthians 3:6-9     …God gave the increase…

Paul said he planted, then Apollos watered, but they had the same Spirit, and God gave the increase.  They had two different jobs, two different paths, but the same goal.  You know, computers have a lot of potential; they are capable of everything that they were designed to do.  You can get programs for them to make them do all kinds of things, but they can’t do a thing until you plug them into their power source.  We have no power of our own; we have to be plugged into our power source, the Holy Ghost.  He leads and guides all men unto God.

John 4:24           those that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

I wasn’t there when Jesus died on the cross, but I’ve read about it in the Word of God, and I believe it.  You just have to take it by faith.

Ephesians 2:8-9 …the gift of God…

Luke 24:46-47    should be preached in His name beginning at Jerusalem.

In Acts chapter 2, we read about Apostle Peter doing what Jesus commanded him.  Just for the sake, let’s look at who Peter was preaching to:

Acts 2:5              devout men, out of every nation.

Acts 2:37-41       …repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

This promise is unto all those that are afar off.  I heard this message on a Saturday; it was one of four messages preached that day.  I had never heard of a church having four messages on a Sunday, much less a Saturday.  I was amazed at the authority with which Pastor Davis preached this message, and I realized, “He’s still calling.”  It made me wonder where was I in my life?  I realized that God was calling me, and so I got baptized that afternoon in that old horse trough.

Galatians 5:22-23       …fruit of the Spirit…

For the first year after I got baptized, it was like a honeymoon.  I was on cloud nine.  I didn’t really understand what was going on.

2 Timothy 1:7     …God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love…

I have no more fear.  I do have love, and not hate, and a sound mind.  There was a time when I had hate, but not any more.

Romans 8:35-39          …we are more than conquerors…

We are conquerors, but, also, we are witnesses.

1 Corinthians 2:2-5     …your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Todd Morgan used to say, “Before you start your day, pray.”  He told me one time that he used to pray every day that God would send someone his way so that he could share with them.  I told him that was selfish.  He said that it wasn’t, because if he shared with somebody, and then God sent him overseas, like He did Pastor Lantis, then that brother might start a whole new branch of the ministry, like Sri Lanka.

Proverbs 3:5-6            Trust in the Lord with all thine heart…

We need to pray that God would just give us the words to speak.  Sometimes God gives us opportunities, and we just miss them.

John 15:4-5     Abide in me

We can do nothing without the Spirit of God.  If we don’t examine ourselves daily (2 Corinthians 13:5), Satan sneaks in, and he will lie to us.  He plagues your thought processes, and then you wonder why you can’t do anything.

Psalms 66:18  If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Isaiah 59:1-2   …your iniquities have separated between you and your God…

There are three steps to this process.  First, you have to ask God for forgiveness.

1 John 1:4-10  …if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins…

Second, you have to pursue God.  That is one of the characteristics of a Christian, he pursues God.

1 Peter 1:5-10  …though now ye see Him not, yet believing…

            Third, we need to trust.

Psalms 37:3-5 Trust in the Lord, and do good…

A shepherd has a staff to protect the sheep; he can use it to crush predators that would try to destroy the sheep.  He can also use it to guide the sheep.  Moses had a staff, and God told him to throw it down, and it became a snake.  God told him to pick the snake up by its tail, and it turned back into a staff (Exodus 4:2-4).  Moses had to throw down his staff before any of that happened, though.  The thing that he used for protection; the thing that he leaned on, he had to let go of it that God could be glorified.

Isaiah 12:2      Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid…

We need to commit ourselves to God, and not be afraid.

1 Peter 2:9      But ye are chosen generation…
