The fifth Sunday of the month is traditionally a worship service Sunday, with no sermon, but George felt that many people would be disappointed if there were no Scriptures in service, so he did a little review of the International Conference in Norfolk from last weekend.

Let me start with a little story:  When I was young, I was excited about going to school.  I finished up my breakfast, and I ran out the door.  My mom yelled out, “Wait!” and I came back in.  She said, “Put on a jacket; it’s cold outside.”  So, I put on my jacket and ran out the door again.    My mom yelled out, “Wait!” and I came back in again.  She said, “You forgot your lunch.”  So, I grabbed my lunch and ran out the door again.    My mom yelled out, “Wait!” and I came back in, again.  She gave me a hug and a kiss, and told me to behave at school.  I walked out the door this time, but I thought about it and I knew that I was protected from the cold, I had food to eat, and that I was loved.

Matthew 28:18-20       All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth

When Pastor Paine preached Friday Night in Norfolk, his main Scripture was Matthew 28:18-20, but the main thing he preached about was the part about ‘All power is given unto me.’  Sometimes we get excited and want to go do something, but we have to come to an understanding.  We have to go to Him to get what He has for us.  We can’t do anything without Jesus.

John 15:5        without me ye can do nothing.

Proverbs 3:6   In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

His yoke is easy (Matthew 11:30).  Sometimes it feels like I just jump out with both feet and land on tacks.  Those are times when I have more faith in my faith than I have in God.  I think that because I am baptized in Jesus Name in accordance with Acts 2:38 and Mark 16:16, that it makes me invincible.  It doesn’t work that way, though.  I have to seek His will, and study His Word to make sure that I am doing what He would have me to do.
